Revamping my kids play kitchen was a great and inexpensive way to create a fresh, exciting play area. In this post are the steps I took to giving a sad looking kitchen a little makeover!

  1. Assessment & Inspiration: I found a $35 play kitchen off Facebook marketplace. I started by basically assessing the current state of the kitchen (which was not great haha). I looked for any wear and tear, scratches, or outdated things. I collected inspiration, themes, and real kitchen styles.

  2. Cleaning & Prepping: Start the makeover by giving the play kitchen a good cleaning. Remove any dust, grime, or sticky residue (the one I found had about 35478 stickers lol). Disassemble removable parts for easier access, I removed all hardware, doors, knobs etc. This step prepares the surface for paint and makes sure it is clean for your kids.

  3. Painting & Refinishing: Apply a child-safe, non-toxic paint to transform the kitchen's appearance. I painted the entire kitchen as well as the knobs & handles. The paint alone gives the kitchen a fresh, new look!

  4. Creative Details: Add creative details to enhance the look of the kitchen. I added wooden stove top elements, faux backsplash, faux marble countertop. I also painted the knobs & hardware, and added a bar with hooks to hang utensils.

  5. Accessory Upgrade: Spruce up the kitchen's accessories to complement the new look. I added some small faux plants, kitchen towels, a pots & pans set, utensil set, faux fruit & veggies, a wooden coffee maker and baskets for storage!

  6. Assembling & Unveiling: Once everything is ready, reassemble the kitchen, making sure everything fits. Arrange the accessories so it looks inviting. When the transformation is all done, unveil it to your kids, I gave ours to my daughter for her birthday! Then watch them play for hours! #ad
